How to Use This Printable
- Print the sheet and pin it somewhere you'll see it daily.
- Every time you save $10 toward your goal, color or check off one box.
- Track your running total in the margin if you want an exact number, not just the visual.
- When all 100 boxes are filled, you've hit $1,000.
Set a target and a deadline
Write the goal, the total amount you need, and the date you want it by. Divide the amount by the number of months left to get the monthly figure. A goal without a number and a date stays a wish; a goal with both becomes a line in your budget.
Make the transfer automatic
Set up a standing transfer into a separate savings account on payday, before the money is in reach for spending. Saving whatever is left at the end of the month almost always means saving less than you planned, or nothing.
Track it where you can see it
Colour in the tracker each time you add money. Watching the bar fill is a small reward that keeps a months-long goal from fading into the background. Put the sheet somewhere you actually pass by.
Want a challenge built around your own goal instead of a fixed amount? The savings challenge generator makes a custom week-by-week plan for any target.

FAQ
- Does it have to be exactly $1,000?
- The grid has 100 boxes at $10 each by default. Use any increment you like, for example $5 per box for a $500 goal.
- What if I save an odd amount, like $23?
- Fill whole boxes for the amount saved and carry the remainder to the next entry, or round to the nearest box, whichever keeps it simple for you.
- Can I use it for a goal bigger than $1,000?
- Yes, raise the per-box amount. $20 a box makes it a $2,000 tracker using the same 100 boxes.
- Do the boxes need to be filled in order?
- No, fill them in whatever order matches your budget. The total is the same either way.
- What happens once the sheet is full?
- You've hit the goal. Print a fresh sheet for the next one, or move up to a bigger challenge like the 52-Week Money Challenge.
