How to Use This Printable
- Write each money goal on its own row, with the total amount it needs.
- Set a deadline for each one, then count the months between now and then.
- Divide the target by that number of months and write the monthly amount in the next column.
- Add up the monthly column and check that the total fits your budget before you commit.
Turning a big number into a monthly one
A goal like $3,000 by December sounds distant, but dividing it by the months remaining turns it into a specific monthly transfer that's much easier to actually commit to.
Prioritizing when the math doesn't fit
If the monthly total across all goals doesn't fit the budget, pushing out a deadline or dropping the lowest-priority goal keeps the remaining goals realistic instead of underfunding all of them a little.
Reviewing progress monthly
Checking off Funded on the first of each month, rather than only at year's end, keeps a goal that's falling behind visible early enough to actually adjust.
Ideas for Using This Printable
- If the monthly total is too high, push a deadline out or drop the lowest-priority goal.
- Open a separate savings account per goal so the money does not blur together.
- Review the sheet on the first of each month and check off anything you have fully funded.

FAQ
- How many goals should I set?
- Two or three funded goals beat a long list that never moves. Start small and add more once one is finished.
- What counts as a money goal?
- Anything with a dollar amount and a date: an emergency fund, a trip, a debt payoff, a big purchase, or a first investment.
- Can a goal's deadline change partway through the year?
- Yes, update the Deadline and recalculate the Monthly Amount from that point forward; the sheet is meant to flex as circumstances change.
- Should an emergency fund be one of these goals?
- If it's not already built, it's usually worth listing as a goal here, often the first-priority one.
- What if I finish a goal early?
- Mark it Funded and redirect that month's contribution to the next goal in line, or add a new goal to the list.
