Filling in a gift idea for each person as soon as it comes to mind, weeks before the holidays, avoids the last-minute buying that tends to blow past a budget. It also spreads shopping out instead of leaving it all for one weekend.
Reusing the sheet
Because the categories are just recipients and amounts, the same format works well for birthdays throughout the year, not only the holidays. Keep a completed sheet as a reference for what worked, and what didn't, next time.
